Have you been considering adding video to your site but still have yet to make the leap? Here are five good reasons why you should consider adding video to your site right now.
- It’s Cheaper Than You Think – Video equipment is no longer the cost prohibitive entry into video that it once was with HD camcorders now available from both Flip and Kodak for under 200 dollars. I currently shoot all my video using a Flip Ultra HD and find both the quality of video and audio to be perfect for my needs. If you still aren’t convinced about video and are worried about even spending 200 bucks many laptops and computers come with web cams that you can use to shoot video with. The point is to shoot content rich video and get it online for others to see.
- It’s Easier Than You Think – Video editing is no longer a cumbersome and daunting experience as both Windows and Mac machines come pre-installed with easy to use video editing software and if you go with a Flip camcorder it also comes with a very easy to use and simple video editor that even allows for uploading to sites directly from the software. If you want to spend money on a higher end video editor you do have other options including software from Adobe, Apple and Sony.
- Video Upload And Distribution Made Easy – With the use of TubeMogul no longer is uploading video to multiple sites a painful experience and time consuming experience. After creating a TubeMogul account and accounts on each of the video sites you want your video to appear on simply upload your video to TubeMogul, fill in the title, description, tags and assign it a category and TubeMogul will upload the video to the appropriate sites automatically for you.
- Actions Speak Louder Than Words – It’s been said time and time again and it is cliché but actions truly do speak louder than words. No matter how good the ad copy is or the written content may be if you can see something with your own two eyes you are more likely to believe what is being presented during the video than if you had just read it.
- The Stats – Online video is huge with Google reporting that 24 hours of video are uploaded every minute, Comscore reports that in January of this year that 135.4 million viewers watched 12.7 billion videos on YouTube.com and that the average length of video watched is 4.1 minutes. There’s no denying it online video is huge and you should be taking advantage of it to help drive traffic to your brand, product or site.
