What Happened To Full Service?

What happened to the days of full service? What happened the the gas attendant checking our oil, filling the tank and cleaning your windshield? What about actually talking to a teller at the bank? Do you prefer the self-serve model of business now? Or would you prefer as a customer to see the return of the full service?
